This fall we're inviting 10–12 University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign faculty to use RokSpark in an official course — and help shape the platform through a focused pilot.

What to know before joining the pilot.

What is RokSpark?
RokSpark is an authoring and learning environment that helps an instructor turn subject-matter expertise into a structured, AI-guided course experience. It combines course generation, adaptive tutoring, and coaching with Lux.
Why run a faculty pilot now?
The fastest way to make RokSpark useful is to test it in real courses with faculty who care about learning quality. Pilot instructors help refine the authoring workflow, student experience, support model, and guardrails.
What kinds of courses are a good fit?
Courses from any discipline or level can qualify. The clearest candidates are official Fall 2026 courses with defined learning objectives and an instructor willing to build enough material for meaningful student use. A high-value module is a sensible starting point when time is tight.
Do I need experience with AI or course design?
No. You bring the disciplinary expertise and judgment. The RokSpark team guides the design conversation, generates the first draft, and helps refine the learning experience.
Will RokSpark replace Canvas or another LMS?
No. RokSpark supports course construction and AI-guided learning. The pilot team works with each instructor to determine how it fits alongside the systems already used in the course.
Will Lux simply give students answers?
The goal is productive effort. Lux can be configured as a Socratic coach, critic, source checker, revision coach, simulation partner, or reflection coach. Students are asked to make a claim, attempt a solution, or explain their reasoning before receiving help.
Who controls the academic content?
The instructor does. Faculty review, revise, and approve the objectives, explanations, activities, assessments, and AI coaching instructions before students use them.
What is expected of participating faculty?
A focused design conversation; access to relevant course materials; timely review of generated content; a readiness check before launch; brief check-ins during the pilot; and candid feedback afterward.
How will accessibility, privacy, and academic integrity be handled?
Before launch, the team documents course-specific guardrails, student disclosures, data practices, accessibility needs, and appropriate uses of AI. Faculty may pause or adjust any part of the experience.
How do I express interest?
Send us your course title, expected enrollment, what you most want students to learn to do, and whether you are considering a full course or a focused module. An exploratory conversation does not obligate you to join.
